What is an auto-approve limit?
The amount under which an agent's payment can go through without a person. How it sits with the ask limit, per-payment cap and daily cap.
An auto-approve limit is the largest single payment an agent may make without a person approving it, within any other caps that apply.
How does it work?
Approval policies usually split payments into bands. Below the auto-approve limit, a payment can proceed on its own. Above it, up to an ask or approval limit, it is held for a person. Above that, it is refused. A per-payment cap and a daily cap sit around all of this, so even small auto-approved payments stop once the day's budget is used. The point is to keep people's attention for the payments that deserve it: approving every $1 call teaches people to approve without reading.
In practice
Set the auto-approve limit to the size of the agent's routine payments and no higher. Keep the order consistent: auto-approve at or below the ask limit, which is at or below the per-payment cap, which is at or below the daily cap. Revisit it after a week of real use: if you approve the same small payment every day, the limit may be too low; if you never look at what goes through under it, read the log for anything you would not have approved.
What it does not mean
- It isn't a daily budget. Many small auto-approved payments still add up; the daily cap limits that.
- Under the limit doesn't guarantee a payment happens. Other rules, such as a recipient allowlist, still apply.
- It doesn't change how much a person can approve; that's the ask limit.
Where does Veyra fit?
In Veyra this is auto-max on each endpoint's policy. A payment under it goes through unattended only if the endpoint has a recipient allowlist, the source has an on-chain allowance covering it, and the account's monthly auto-pay budget (Pro 500, Team 2,000) isn't used up; otherwise it's held for approval. On the Free plan there's no auto-pay, so every payment is approved by you.
